Celebrating the Legacy of Teddi Mervis: A Beacon of Hope and Inspiration

As I reflect on today, my heart is full of mixed emotions as we honor and celebrate the birthday of my beloved daughter, Elizabeth "Teddi" Mervis - an extraordinary girl whose courageous battle with cancer and unwavering spirit inspired the founding of Camp Good Days. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy continues to touch the lives of countless children and families impacted by Camp.
When Teddi was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, our family was thrust into a world we knew little about—a world filled with hospital visits, treatments, and the emotional roller coaster that accompanies a serious illness. During the many hospital visits and treatments, it became clear that children like Teddi needed a place where they could find joy, companionship, and a sense of normalcy amidst their struggles. This realization led to the founding of Camp Good Days, a sanctuary where children can escape the harsh realities of their life-threatening diseases and be kids again.
On this special day, we remember Teddi's smile, strength, and courage and are reminded of the countless lives her story has touched. As we celebrate her birthday, we also celebrate the countless moments of happiness and healing that Camp Good Days has brought to children and families over the years. Every child who comes to Camp is a testament to Teddi's enduring legacy. They bring with them their stories of courage, their dreams, and their laughter—reminding us why this mission is so important.
